Introduction

Store QA Tool ("we", "our", or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy and handling your data in an open and transparent manner. This privacy policy explains how we collect, use, and protect information when you use our Shopify app.

Information We Collect

When you install and use Store QA Tool, we may collect:

Store Information: Your Shopify store domain and session data needed to authenticate requests
Storefront and Catalog Content: Page content, navigation, product and collection data, and images read from your storefront and Admin API in order to check them
Theme Source: Your live theme’s Liquid and JSON files, and any theme .zip you choose to upload, read in order to check them
Scan and Finding Data: The scans you run, their configuration, and the findings they produce, including status changes like dismissals
Settings Data: Your configured preview URL, disallowed words, allowed languages, scan schedule, and which checks are enabled
Preview Credentials: A storefront password, if you provide one for scanning a protected preview URL

How We Use Your Information

We use the collected information to:

Provide and maintain our service
Run scans and generate findings with plain-language fix instructions
Compare scans over time so findings can be tracked as new, recurring, or resolved
Meter usage against your plan for billing purposes, once billing is active
Provide customer support
Improve our app and develop new features
Ensure security and prevent fraud

AI Processing

To power the language check, page copy and theme text content is sent in batches to our AI provider for language detection. This only happens when the check is enabled and an AI provider is configured on the backend; your store credentials and payment details are never included. Every other check runs entirely within our own systems, with no content sent to a third-party AI provider.

Data Storage and Security

Scan and finding data is stored in Store QA Tool’s database to power scan history, cross-scan tracking, and dismissals. We implement appropriate security measures including:

Encrypted data transmission (HTTPS)
Secure authentication via Shopify session tokens
Encrypted storage of any preview storefront password you provide - never stored in plaintext
Compliance with Shopify’s security requirements

We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information to third parties. We may share information with:

Shopify: As our platform provider, in accordance with their terms of service
Our AI provider: Limited to the text needed for the language check, when that check is enabled
Service Providers: Trusted infrastructure and hosting partners who assist in operating our app
Legal Requirements: When required by law or to protect our rights

Billing

Store QA Tool is built to bill through Shopify’s secure billing system. Billing is not yet active - every store currently runs on the Free plan with no charge. Once active, Store QA Tool will never see or store your payment details.

Your Rights

You have the right to:

Access your personal data
Correct inaccurate data
Request deletion of your data
Export your data
Withdraw consent for data processing

Store QA Tool honors Shopify’s mandatory GDPR webhooks for customer data requests, customer redaction, and shop redaction. A shop redaction request removes your store’s session and shop records from our database.

Data Retention

We retain scan and finding history so you can track progress and see trends across scans. If you uninstall the app, your session data is cleaned up. Your storefront, catalog, and theme are never modified by Store QA Tool in the first place, so uninstalling the app leaves your store exactly as it was.

Children's Privacy

Our app is not intended for use by children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new policy on this page and updating the "Last updated" date.
