Scan Settings

The Settings tab has two sections - Scan defaults and Checks to run. Everything here is saved per store and applies to every new scan unless you override it for a single scan from the Scans page.

Scan Defaults

Preview URL

Point every scan at a private or staging URL instead of your live storefront - useful for auditing a new theme or a redesign before it goes live. Leave it blank to scan the live storefront.

Preview Password

If your preview URL is protected by Shopify’s storefront password, set it here. SQA logs in through the password gate first, so it scans your real pages instead of reading the password screen as if it were your entire site.

Stored encrypted

Your preview password is encrypted before it’s stored and is never kept in plaintext. Once a password is saved, the field shows a note that one is set - leave it blank to keep it, or tick Clear the saved preview password to remove it.

Automatic Scans

Choose Off, Daily, or Weekly. On a schedule, SQA runs a Tier 1 scan with your saved defaults automatically. There’s no email notification yet - open the app afterward and check the Home page digest or Scan History to see what changed.

Disallowed Words

A list of words you want flagged - one per line, e.g. a competitor’s name or a word you never want appearing on your store. Every entry is checked against the text of every page and against your theme’s Liquid and JSON source, so a disallowed word hiding in an unused section or a translation file is caught too, not just what renders.

Allowed Languages

ISO codes, comma-separated (e.g. en, de). Page copy and theme text written in any other language is flagged by the AI language check. Defaults to en, de if left unset.

This check needs AI configured

The language check only runs when the app’s AI provider is configured on the backend. If it isn’t, the check is skipped entirely rather than failing your scan.

Checks to Run

Every check is on by default. Untick any check here to turn it off for every future Tier 1 scan. See What Gets Checked for what each one actually looks for.

Overriding for a single scan

Turning a check off here changes the default for every new scan. To change checks for just one scan without touching your saved defaults, use Choose checks on the Scans page instead.

Saving Your Settings

Click Save settings after making changes in either section. Settings are stored per store and are only picked up by scans you start after saving - a scan already running keeps whatever configuration it started with.
